Pigskin Bob
My real name is Robert Taylor…I became Pigskin Bob by accident thanks to my partner in crime Harlen the Sports Guy. I was born in Tracy Minnesota but don’t remember any of it. My mother had the good sense to get to Texas as fast as she could. Basically my entire life, I’ve been a Texan. If you don’t believe me, listen to the radio. My hillbilly roots are showing. I was raised in Jefferson Texas and graduated college from Texas A & M Commerce. I’m one of the weird ones in the radio business. Everyone is here by accident. I’ve known I wanted to be in this industry ever since I had to write a position paper as a Junior in High School. My first radio job was overnight DJ at a small station in Greenville Texas. KEMM 92.1. I got the 6p – 10p shift not long after that…and went into the advertising department months later. That’s where I’ve been most of my life. Upon graduation I’ve had advertising jobs in Tyler and Shreveport…. However by far the longest stint I have worked in the industry has been in Longview. Harlen and I started the Friday Night Scoreboard Show in 2004. It started as two guys giving scores and joking around for a couple of hours on Friday Night between songs on KYKX. The show has grown to be the dominant powerhouse of High School Football in East Texas on two legendary stations. My interests include golf, fishing and casino gambling. Don’t judge me. I’m engaged to the most awesomest woman Elizabeth. She has two great kids Josh and Ethan and I have two great kids Abbi and Andrew. They are better known as Pee Wee and Smiling Pete on the show. Being a part of the fabric of Friday Nights is a rush that is hard to put in words. The games we call….the pep rally’s we host….the list goes on. I can’t imagine a world where I can’t do this forever.
